MCPAC Keeps the Music Playing by Kelsey Ray for the Clark Fork Chronicle

Kay Yost, Betty Magone and Caroline Phillips started the Mineral County Performing Arts Council about a year ago, organizing public concerts and performances for residents of Mineral County. Since then, the group has hosted many concerts and performances in the Superior Baptist Church.

“We love music, “said Yost, the director of the community choir when MCPAC formed.

“We wanted more music and art in the community.” Betty Magone adds that they are “looking for extremely good quality and very professional performers.”

Past acts have included the Peter Parks Band, Scott Billadeau of Superior, Donn Dale played and his flamenco guitar and Laura Loge singing soprano.

Jim Goss, treasurer of MCPAC, said that his favorite performance was when Jodi Marshall and Dale performed last winter. He said that MCPAC is currently seeking non-profit status and that they appreciate all the generous support from the businesses around Mineral County that have donated.

Magone declares that they do not charge any fees for the concerts but the donations they receive are going towards purchasing a facility for MCPAC. The council plans to have four concerts a year, one for each of the seasons. The group is currently seeking donations for an upcoming concert series.

Hi! I just joined this site and I’m a performance major in violin. (Though I’m really rusty because it was over 10 years ago!) Curios about the site. I live in Missoula, MT.
